Provençal Santon carafe
A distinctive ceramic piece that fits within the tradition of anthropomorphic objects. This bottle (or pitcher) takes the form of a monk or a pilgrim wrapped in a long cloak, holding a bundle tightly against him.
The piece is made of glazed stoneware, offering a beautiful palette of earthy tones, ranging from ochre to deep chocolate brown. A playful and clever detail: the character's head, topped with a beret, serves as a stopper and conceals the cork neck. The object is signed "Austrup" under the base, attesting to its artisanal origin.
