Ceramic Pocket Dish Rascasse Vallauris

Unique zoomorphic pocket tray in polychrome glazed earthenware, from the famous Cérenne workshop (founded by Charles-René Neveux in Vallauris in the 1950s). This sculptural work, signed by the ceramist J. Nielly, boldly and humorously illustrates the head of a scorpion fish with its mouth wide open.

The thick glazing showcases intense hues characteristic of the Riviera's production at that time: wide carmine lips, an impressive emerald green interior, contrasting with fins worked in shades of yellow, green, and brown. The back of the piece bears the hand-incised inscriptions "J. NIELLY", "Cérenne", and "Vallauris".

This authentic piece has lived and shows some signs of time that testify to its history: small chips are visible on one eye (as well as on the tip near it), on a fin, and at the end of the tail.

A true curiosity object with a strong character, this pocket tray will add an unusual touch to an entry console or a desk.
